8th Annual NOVAS (National Open Visual Arts) Exhibit
The annual National Open Visual Arts Show (NOVAS) is an exhibit showcasing a wide variety of high-quality art from around the country – bringing national perspectives to our community located on the edge of Atlanta.
Join us for the opening reception and awards on Thursday, Sept. 5 from 6 – 8 pm. The exhibit will remain on display through September 26th.

This weekend, Douglasville kids can experience an exclusive new line of toys at Walmart stores. To celebrate the relaunch of the iconic Rescue Heroes® toys exclusively at Walmart – a preschool toy line featuring first responders as action figures– Fisher-Price® is bringing the Rescue Heroes® toys to select Walmart stores nationwide. The free event gives kids the chance to play with the toys, celebrate first responders, and use your phone to bring the fire truck to life through augmented reality and transform them into the Rescue Heroes characters themselves!
BTFP Zoo Atlanta Field Trip
Join Beyond the Front Porch as we tour Zoo Atlanta that houses over 1,500 animals representing more than 220 species. The zoo is home to the nation’s largest zoological collections of gorillas and orangutans and is one of only four zoos in the U.S. currently housing giant pandas. This activity, transportation and lunch is FREE for students on free/reduced lunch and $25 for all others.
Family Reunion Workshop

Hollis St. Jamboree
The Hollis Street Jamboree is September 14th from 1pm to 6pm at the Hollis Street House of Hope, 8304 Hollis Street in Douglasville.
We will have bounce houses, a balloon twister artist, kids activities, a spades tournament, informational tables, music, and a cookout with grilled chicken.
Please park in the Simpson Mortuary parking lot.
The City of Douglasville is bringing you another FREE concert on Friday, September 20 at 7:00 PM on O’Neal Plaza! Covering classic soul from every era along with retro rock/pop to today’s current chart-toppers, Bogey & the Viceroy performances lead to packed dance floors and good times. This is a show you don’t want to miss!
September Saturdays Festival
Heroes Day + Touch-a-Truck Experience will feature equipment and vehicles from military, law enforcement, public safety, and community service agencies in addition to featuring booths from schools of the Douglas County School System in which the schools will promote and explain their programs, and possibly raise funds for the school.
Douglas County Special Olympics is an accredited agency through Special Olympics Georgia, non profit organization, who provides elite sports competition for individuals with developmental disabilities.
DCSO, is a program who serves children and adults 16 and up, that raises funding for the athletes with in our community. Funding is utilized for uniforms, equipment, skills training, coaches training, practice and competition venues. Also volunteer training, coaches certification, transportation. and lodging for state games.
